@Anonymous: I study chemistry and I thought you meant because when I was a first year I found out that everything I'd ever learned was wrong. "Electrons exist in oribitals" WRONG! "You should draw all the atoms when you make a molecule" WRONG! "I'm not studying physics" WRONG!

@juliee: I took engineering for 2 years at university after my best high school subjects turned out to be physics and calculus (also, engineering is one of those careers that seems to run in my family). The first uni year was just a generic intro course more to do with physics than anything else. The second year was like this:

ENGINEERING CLASSES ARE SO FRUSTRATING. YOU PUT CIRCUITS AND THINGS TOGETHER LIKE A BIRD'S NEST, AND NUMBERS GO INTO EQUATIONS, AND SEVERAL HOURS LATER THE WRONG NUMBERS COME OUT BECAUSE HUMANFAIL. AND THERE ARE PATTERNS THAT HAPPEN AND INSCRUTABLE GRAPHS THAT SOMEBODY ELSE CAN MAKE FROM THE PATTERNS FROM THE EQUATIONS THAT RUN AROUND LIKE MISBEHAVED DOGS WHOSE OBEDIENCE COMMANDS ARE KNOWN ONLY TO OTHER PEOPLE. IT'S SO CONFUSING AND HARD FOR MY POOR LITTLE BRAIN, AND THAT'S WHY I NOW PAY OFF MY UNNECESSARILY GIGANTIC EDUCATION LOANS BY MAKING PICTURES THAT MOVE.

So naturally I have tons of respect for engineers. They're the ones doing much of the real work that actually needs doing in this world.
Except the ones who are farting around making useless apps that generate your Rainbow Brite name or whatever. But even those engineers are important to me because my people are the ones who get paid to make the graphics for said useless apps.
