Canv.as sometimes encourages me to draw, and doesn't care whether it's a good or bad drawing day, which is something i think is probably good for me.
4chan is filled to about the 78% line with foul shit, and mostly just seems to feed the worst aspects of a human's personality. Facebook is something i visit for a few minutes 2 or 3 times a month, usually when i'm too drunk to draw and want to do something other than watch a movie, and say hi to a few people i only ever talk to through facebook comments and PMs.
Apart from canv.as i still spend most of my online time on tech-related message boards and reading blogs...being fairly anti-social, i feel social media is kind of annoying =o)

I'm here because I can be silly and see other people post amusing things. Also it encourages me to be creative and/or draw every now and then, which is a good thing. I'm not on it nearly as much as I used to, but just as well because I don't have the time any more.

I'm just here for the stickers. Once those dry up, I'm out of here, jerkwads.

@Rev_Kev: I figured since I already got the sweet tattoo. I should probably stick around.

@Rev_Kev: To be honest I didn't feel really attached to drawing or art in general until I started visiting canvas and newgrounds. DeviantArt didn't really encourage me to draw or be a better artist and 4chan was kind of "Bipolar" and both were full of hate, trolls and such. Newgrounds kind of made me start drawing more often and had a really well made art community, but Canv.as really makes me want to be better and have fun while doing it. Also I see that here in canvas there is a lot of inteligent and funny people who contribute with the site. thank you guys and thanks canvas ;)

Sorry, no sad story here. I like creating stuff, but I"m also a lazy piece of shit. I would love to have my own webcomic and dump my stupid crap there, but creating your own website requires so much... work. I really have better things to do, like sitting on my ass whole day long. Here, have a funny gif. No need to thank me.

I really like to be heard on the internet. If the community's too big (Reddit) I feel like I'm not being recognized. If the community's too small, it feels slow.
Canvas seems like it's just the right size. I feel popular around these parts. That's the greatest gift a community can give me.
Thank you, Canvas.

When I was in high school I used to draw stuff pretty much everywhere and share it with my friends.
I guess I'm here to continue that on a larger scale.
Pic unrelated.

I forgot how I find canvas but I like the idea of seeing the evolution of drawing here. I still lurk some stories written by drawfriends :D

I come here because i like to piss off the staff (yes, i think that the rules of canvas are incredibely stricts and close to puritanism), because it's fun sometimes, but also because i'm not interesed / hate other networks (excepting 4chan (i came here because of moot's commercials), canvas (obviously) and some other gaming communities).
To be honest, i don't really know what i'm doing here, given that : - I can't draw
- I use things from the internet and mix them with other stuff, or slightly remix them (creating little to no original content)
PS : If there's a mod around, i'd like to say PISS SHIT FUCK FUCK FUCKING BITCH ASS

@Anonymous: Not really, i'm not interested in getting in an internet fight with someone, i just like to spill bullshit everywhere.

The whole reason I still visit canv.as is because I really like the users here. Everyone is pretty nice to each other and I like that the other canvasaurs encourage creativity and original content. Most communities seem to discourage it. That and I'm addicted to the stickers and drawing challenges on this site. :3

@Anonymous: Maybe you're reading too much into the anon's post. You might be right, and the anon is a jerk, but i'd prefer to give the benefit of the doubt when the poster's intent is unclear.

@Rev_Kev: I got here through the Drawcast stream. I had only heard of 4chan but didn't want to be part of it and it's really hard to get noticed on deviantart. On canv.as I got a lot of positive feedback on my drawings, encouraging me to draw more. By drawing regularly I also became better at it and after I joined drawfriends I got to know a lot of new friends. I fear I might lose a lot of them now more people are leaving canv.as. But I know I will never forget most of them.

@Rev_Kev:
I'm here because three years or so ago, this place was pretty happenin' The mods were great - they encouraged us to email them and send them love. They'd mail us notes and stickers back in return. They had a few contests - I won a Valentine's Day one with a silly poem. I got some stickers, cookie tattoos, candies, and a Justin Bieber Valentine's day card from it.
Sadly, times have changed since they released DrawQuest and we've been pretty much forgotten about. But even though the mods are dead, and we could probably post dicks and stuff, we don't. We actually seem to have some maturity and respect for each other.
We've essentially become the Internet's version of Cheers - where everybody knows your name. We're pretty much just (in no particular order, and I'm super sorry if I've missed anybody)
- Rev_Kev
- Echapa
- Tmst
- Photocopier
- Dangus
- Wardrich
- Lollajames
- CyberTaco
- Ravenunknown
- Bluemilk4me
- Heji
- Mackd
There are probably a few others. Sorry if I've missed you.

Your post made me think a lot, maybe I came across this website way too late, I couldn't experience what sounds as "the golden age of canvas". Is the situation THAT bad? I feel like I've totally missed the good times...
Too many feels

"Is the situation THAT bad?"
...We didn't even have seasonal stickers for Hallowe'en this year lol. The only special event that seems to be left is the Tacnyan on Friday the 13ths... and it's probably a script that sets a flag to true any time that date occurs.
Canv.as used to be pretty awesome. It was never super fantastic, but it was still pretty awesome. I have a post that has more stickers on it than I'm sure we have active users now. The whole site kind of got abandoned as soon as DrawQuest was rolled out. The blog (blog.canv.as - I bet half of you didn't even know that existed lol) seems to have pretty much dried up other than that strange post from a few months ago.
Not too much has happened *really* as far as negativity goes. Most of the users that left probably don't give too many shits about the site anyway. The prolific members stuck around, so we haven't really lost anything as far as quality. The site itself isn't really spammed out there, so there isn't too much to worry about as far as policing the site goes. We're kind of like an elite secret niche in the wide world of webs.

@Francuzo: If you're enjoying your time on canv.as now, don't worry about the golden age. The only word you need to know about the golden age is "nokonoko" and no one knows what that word means.

@Fluffers: Well thanks for that (I'll be thinking about nokonoko), here have a poptart cat!

The update to the remixer scared off half the members and the mod disappearance murdered the rest. I'd still be around if computer.

(srry in advance for wall of text)
i came here cuz my bf told me about it (he posted only anon and left when update happened)
i got addicted to the stickers pretty much within a week
also the drawing challenges
over time i got to kno the community better and i was really impressed at the variety of users and the general friendliness toward eachother.
its really awesome to be able to collaborate with ppl who arent all necessarily artists (as it is on other art sites like da).
imo what sets canv.as apart is that the users are more concerned with fun and being creative than seeing technical ability and building a fanbase.
this is y drawfriends is so fucking awesome and also the reason i do request threads exclusively on canv.as (id rather not get 30+ requests of pretty much only sonic ocs)
ive been on deviantart for 8 years (since i was about 16) and while there are a bunch of talented artists to follow i have never felt like i had a place within the community (ppl there get butthurt pretty easily...)
i have a tumblr too, but the userbase annoys me the same as da (its all very exclusive and clicky)...
at least i quit facebook tho cuz srsly fuck facebook (studies show it legit makes ppl upset when using it)
anyway canv.as 4 life u guys are awesome
((still no computer so i made a shitty trackpad drawing to show im still thinking of u guys))

@wardrich: actually quite a bit less than 3 years. I'd put it at just about 2.5 years, although I didn't check the actual dates, but i guess sometimes it seems like canvas has been around longer than that.

I got a Daily Dev once on dA. That was pretty awesome lol.
