@Anonymous: You bet I'm mad, racism is no laughing matter, and we should stop acting like it.

@Anonymous: OP's the one that posted a racist picture. I'm hoping others a flagging it as well. A black woman wearing chains in a sea of white people. This is possibly the most offensive image I've ever seen.

@Anonymous: That's even more racist. You should feel ashamed.
-
@Anonymous: it is a metaphor, isn't it? Either way, if she wants to be dressed as a slave, it is her right... she posed for the picture in the chains and is obviously comfortable with it... you are making it racists.... it is either your "thing" or it isn't. Doesn't matter what color her skin is.

@OliveOodle: I don't know that she chose to pose for that photo, the sex slave industry is very lucrative in Thailand.

@Anonymous: ... she doesn't appear to be sufferin is all i'm sayin... there are worse things in life than being someone's sex slave, i'm sure.

@Anonymous: affiliated nose, high cheekbones, protuberant forehead and olive skin are all ethnic markers of asian ancestry.

@Anonymous: And that's precisely what Twi'leks symbolize in Star Wars, and Leia is used as a Twi'lek slave would've been.

@Anonymous: Thailand is not part of star wars, it's a real place. The sex slave industry there is a very real thing, and a very real problem. People like you who can justify the slave trade because it was in a movie sicken me. You're a real scumbag. I hope someone backtraces your computer and has you arrested.

@Anonymous: ...slavery against will is an entirely different beast than the "hollywood" version that I believe this thread is eluding to. There are many unjust and horrible things happening all over the world... and even in our OWN BACK-YARDS that we either are unaware of or just can't do a damn thing about... no one is perfect, as I'm sure you aren't either. I'm not justifying anyone's actions and have often thought about how easily I could have been born into a less desirable existence... but at the end of the day all most of us can do for the unfortunate, is to be grateful for what we have, and hope for a better change for the people who are REALLY suffering.
-
Anonymous
@OliveOodle: You also don't have to glorify and romanticize slavery and suffering as you've been doing in this thread.
1 -
@Anonymous: Well slavery in the right setting can be romantic... have you ever heard of marriage? I am entitled to an opinion... and am entitled to speak it, just as you have chosen to. I was simply clarifying that there is difference to what was being spoken about and what you were taking it as, and it does not mean that we/I condone the slavery you were speaking about... this is canv.as, not the fucking Salvation Army.

@Anonymous: is that a question... obviously it is not one or the other and there is an entire world in-between... I am only speaking in reference to the mass... maestro.

@Anonymous: I gave it a D: too, because she is damn ugly. Race has nothing to do with it, racism is in YOUR head when you assumed we did it for the reasons you are implying.

@Anonymous: Why racism only applies to black people? What if they have something against thailandese?
1 -
Anonymous
@Anonymous: Never said that.
But it's racist to categorize a person into the category "black" simple because they have a darker skin tone.
The same way it's racist to call every asian "china man", it's racist to call any tanner-than-brown person "black".
Please, kindly do get your facts straight, before being completely arseholic.1 -

@Anonymous: Everyone has the right to hate, IF they keep their oppinion to themselves.
The fact is that this kind of behaviour is AGAINST the COC, and should be fought against with the same haste NSFW pictures are.2 -

@OliveOodle: And if we didn't have a bible, we wouldn't have racism! Wouldn't that be nice?
21 1 -
@Anonymous: yes... indeed it would... i don't care who the hell you are or what the fuck you do... you are either a good person or not... hell you could be a great person, and I still might not like you... but it won't be based on profiling.

the problem with the internet is that it has made people see most things as sarcastic instead of being sincere... so "most" things are taken from a negative standpoint instead of just enjoying this woman in a costume. I once put a comment on a post of two muscular gay men saying it was true strength. People got offended thinking I was mocking them, when I mean what I said. I don't care what anyone says, for two men to hold hands walking down the street it takes a lot of comfort with self... not that it should be that way, but the reality is that it is for the most part, that way. Canv.as is basically the only internet I do and for the most part it is positive thanks to the coc... but some posts are just taken way too seriously and in the wrong context that was intended. It usually is an indicator of how the person reading it feels vs how the poster meant to make people feel, imho.

@OliveOodle: Be more like 4chan. If no one gives a shit, then no one gets mad at each other. Tolerance is not about tolerating the tolerant people while being intolerant of intolerant people, it's about not giving a shit if someone does something. Tolerance does not equal standing up for others and hating the intolerant.
