@Anonymous: Nobody cares about Futbol, the most popular sport in the world, or Handegg, the most popular sport in the United States. Gotcha.

@burrowowl: You'd be surprised at how little people care about whatever happens in the US.

@Anonymous: So even though you're apparently the best in the world you aren't the current champions?
Doesn't that mean you're going downhill and getting progressively worse? -

@Anonymous: No, but if she isn't getting Oscars every year she can't run around saying she's the best actor of all time.

@Anonymous: I dunno if it sucks or not. It's too goddamn boring to watch for a long enough period of time to determine that. Of course, that's my opinion on all sports, though.

alright, so i couldn't fit them all on there. korean = 축구. slovenian = novomet. swahili = soka. tamli = சாக்கர். all of the ones that are in foreign characters are more phonetically similar to "soccer" than "football". and if you don't believe me, you can use this wonderful resource at your fingertips called the "internet". yes, "football" is a very widely used term, but there are many other languages besides the united states dialect of english that do not use it. didn't mean to cause a problem; just thought the infographic was a little misleading and decided to edit it for educational purposes.

@Anonymous: Only in 'Merica' is that a problem :3

@DESUDESUDESU: This guy has it right. I wrote a standup bit about how "fut" is not spanish for foot, and "bol" is not spanish for ball. But I only do it during football season. I have no idea when soccer season is.

@Anonymous: Pfff you can't trick me, pinapple's "pina" in Spanish, hence "pina colada."
It's "ananas" in Argentina only. -

@Anonymous: yeah... any other place in the world, you say you don't like (real)football, THAT's what makes your parents think you're gay.

@Anonymous: It's because it's descended from rugby, which was originally called "rugby football." Britain kept the "rugby," America kept the "football."

If your life revolves around the success of other people (athletes) and not your own, you are doing it wrong. Sports are a good occasional distraction, but if you are a rabid fan, you are probably also a loser. If people calling it soccer pisses you off, you probably fall into that category.
