Maybe I'm just a dumbass but why would you protest the NATO summit? Isn't it where world leaders meet and come up with policies? Wouldn't you want that to happen?

@Anonymous: Most of the dissent is a result of the leaders losing the trust of the people and not acting in their best collective interest. Also, NATO was designed to be a defensive alliance, not an offensive one, as with Libya. That's the gist of it.

@PickleOHatred: Ok fair enough. But just to make sure I've got this. Aren't most countries in NATO running under fairly democratically elected governments? So if their leaders aren't acting the way they want wouldn't it be wiser to at the next opportunity elect someone else rather than start shit in the streets that makes your cause seem like a bunch immature jackasses? As for NATO not being an offensive organization isn't it exactly that? Its just an alliance stating that all countries involved in NATO will join together if/when an attack occurs against the aggressor?

I often wonder how many people on here have been to a "peaceful" protest. I have been to a few of them and I can tell you people do stupid shit on both sides. I have seen protesters lob beer bottles into crowds just to get shit started. I have seen firecrackers and smoke bombs set off just to get shit started. pushing, shoving name calling all to provoke the police into violence.

@Anonymous: As for the election thing, I've kind of lost hope in it. It seems like whoever is elected is soon more influenced by money than by the people who elected them. I think the majority of the people who elect the leaders in NATO disagree with the Afghanistan efforts, and it seems that (finally) some change is coming. I think people are mad about NATO because they're looking to do what they did to Afghanistan to Libya (destabilize the region).

@PickleOHatred: Afghanistan isn't changing due to public opinion. It's changing because their goals are being accomplished. Same reason Iraq is basically a few military bases right now. It's functioning and autonomous, the goal was achieved. Why would a hooker stay to cuddle if the blowjob is over?

@PickleOHatred: It's hard to be much worse off than Afghanistan already was before other countries messed with it. Although I do personally think it's doing better now than way back when a bunch of countries were loading rebels up with weapons to fight the Russians. That shit was crazy yo and look what came from it.

@Anonymous: I'm like the opposite! I don't like ponies - but this doesn't extend into disliking the "bronies" who post them. So while I do care that ponies get posted (in that I don't like ponies, so I just ignore them, just like how I don't like hentai so I ignore that when I see it), that's because ponies are not my thing, rather than because I have something against pony-fans for whatever other reason.
