@Anonymous: I think I already put my own case well enough in a previous thread, but the new tool sits somewhere between "just the same tools as before but slower/harder to use" and "actually fewer tools than before and some of them are now lower quality"
Drawing tools: all fine, but it now takes two clicks to move between them. The clone tool resetting issue has been fixed, but because of having to open the menu every time, it actually makes no practical difference. Addition of line tool is nice, but apparently this was always possible using a (secret :p) key combination, there's no spline, and shapes are always fully filled (ie no outline option). And the colour picker suffers just the same, with the additional problem of no longer having custom palette entries.
Images/stickers: no issues. It's supposedly better than it was before but I'm really not feeling any improvement. Not worse, though.
Text: Oh dear god what HAVE you done. This was already in need of being thrown in the bin and done over completely, but this version is actually worse.
Filters: addition of new preset ones is nice, but that could have easily been done by adding additional entries to the examples list. Now no way to make your own, and interesting, tweakable stuff like the Warhol preset has gone. They really are the equivalent of what you would get on a phone camera app (Instagram etc), just with repeatability.
Plus the layering paradigm is all kinds of fucked up.
It's still usable for some basic things, and will be fun until the novelty of multi-stacking stamps/solarise/8bit onto a remix wears off, but at the end of the day it's still even more mickey mouse than it already was :-/
I'm not expecting Photoshop or anything, but possibly it could take the functionality of at least MS Paint (a couple-hundred-kb program that's been around almost totally unchanged for over 20 years), add the stamps, filters etc on top, & retain the better customisability …21 1 -

good luck reading that fucking text. i mean, the background is giving me nasty flashbacks to the 16-bit days, but the point, such as it is, stands. I could've made that readable in a turn-of-the-millennium paint tool.
there isn't even a "bold" option, which would have made one of the four other fonts (jesus, my first 9-pin dot matrix printer offered more than that) more readable, but as they're all about as thin as a human hair at anything below 30-point in this system, it had to be impact all the way. no italic either.
text fill size has been increased so it no longer underflows the inside of the outlines, but it does mean it now overflows the outside of them. black-in-black shows a weird case of not being anti-aliased.
is this stuff being tested in-house before being unleashed on the site? :-(
oh and it's still raping my 2+Ghz dual core pretty hard and jittering because of it. -

@AvengerOfBoredom: That's. Kind. Of. Missing. The. Fucking. Point. Of. The. Site.

@AvengerOfBoredom: The fun thing about Canvas is (was) the inline editor - the sense of mastering it to do things "the hard way", rather than in Photoshop. I hate seeing a good remix that has no slider.

@Anonymous: uh-huh, and as a good beta tester, i'm offering constructive feedback. not just going along with it and not offering any opinion, nor aimlessly trolling and criticising for the hell of it. instead, putting forth my opinion on what works, what doesn't, what's improved, what needs improvement, what's got worse, and what could be done to make the final form better.
that's how Beta testing is supposed to work isn't it?
of course the language is a bit spiky... if you dislike that, I apologise. blame it on being a bit of a hang-over from the chans (i left them, then rediscovered this place, and it brought out the sailor in me), and having not had my coffee at that point. besides, welcome to the motherfucking internet. you want jerkwads? we got 'em. -

@OliveOodle: i'm concentrating as hard as i can, and i think I can see the fadge, but my brain just won't accept it as the real thing.

@Anonymous: additional points of note:
The line tool is only one pixel wide. forever.
Squares draw from the top-left edge, but Circles draw from the centre?!?! augh.3 -
