@Xalph: he didn't ask the State Department once while he was there for anything but being released back to China. He realized how horrible it was for him in China, even the capital, upon being released and is now mad butthurt. Plus China has less total executions than the U.S. despite its being a police state, so he'll probably just have to deal with house arrest (which isn't much worse than normal life in a dictatorship).

Homeboy's getting the best of both worlds now: the US gets China to release a political prisoner without souring relations too much with asylum or anything. College campuses get a freedom fighter to guest lecture about human rights and China gets a key member of the opposition out of their society.
