For the post so classy it needs to be number one'd as well. "But wait," you say, "how is it double sided if it's a sticker?" Shhhhhh... it's best not to question the number oneocle.

@Anonymous: How can you enjoy a show with no surprise, if you cant see every slapstick joke coming from ten miles away then you've either never watched any television before this or are barely able to walk and talk at the same time. Every nerd joke they use is ancient, can easily be found on the AOL 3.0 joke rooms. The characters are terribly developed, if I wanted to watch revenge of the nerds I would.

Pic related, its how original their jokes are as well as how much effort they put into the writing

@Anonymous: Are you upset because it isn't funny or are you upset because they took all the jokes that you used to think were funny and your private domain and presented them in a new format? If you laughed at the jokes ever then they must be funny to people that have never heard them or you have a terrible sense of humor.

I understand that we're all on the internet and many of use have been for quite a while. I also understand that there are tons of people who don't delve though the internet looking for all the funny. This show makes it easy for them.

So, really, what about this show upsets you? Is it the old jokes? Have you ever watched a late night show? Is it the nerdy references? Have you ever watched Futurama? Is it the actors? Have you ever watched a sitcom in your entire life?

No, it's not a terribly new format, but it's a new environment for a sitcom and that constitutes a new show. Just because a lot of people like it doesn't mean you have to hate it that much more to make it even. I don't think the show is very funny, but I can certainly find shows that are less funny, less well made, less thought out and less entertaining.

@Anonymous: The writing is lazy, the characters have no development (I gave the show a season before I totally wrote it off) but the format isn't tired. Sitcoms will always come and go and sometimes they will be incredible. Not this one, what makes me upset is the praise that it gets and how zealous the fans are. Look at yourself and the novel you wrote defending a garbage show.

@Anonymous: And it's because the internet is upset that sitcoms stepped in their private domain. I'm simply arguing that it is no worse than any other sitcom and that claiming it is the worst show imaginable or even the worst show on TV right now is foolish. I still watch TV from the 90s because even though all the jokes were already old then, they were new to me and I still have that connection. I don't have that connection with this show because I've already heard the jokes. That's not really the shows fault. I can't think of any sitcom I'd call incredible. I personally think it's a pretty awful format.

    @Anonymous: Otheranon here.
In principle, I agree with you, but consider Happy Days or Threes Company. They were once funny sitcoms, but they don't hold up well at all. Seinfeld holds up remarkably well (but obviously it's a lot newer), and to some extent (at least early seasons of) Friends too, but at some point they are just old and dated, regardless if they were funny at conception/production. BBT's problem is that they're old, dated and contrived at birth. I didn't like it when I saw the pilot, and I don't like it now. I watch a shit ton of TV though, so I guess I have a more developed palate (I know it sounds conceited, but it's true about any field you delve into).

@Anonymous: I've watched a lot of TV, I just don't any longer. I have a pretty deep palette myself. I don't watch TV now because of that (nothing has appealed to me for years). I was never much a fan of Seinfeld because to me awkward situations do not comedy make. It's largely a matter of taste and experience. Like I said, I don't like the sitcom format. I still think it's better than 7000 cop shows and reality shows.

I just think that BBT gets a lot of hate because of all the inexplicable love it receives. I personally don't believe it deserves the praise, but I don't think it should be considered the worst show of all time. Has anyone else ever tried to watch 2 1/2 Men? They established personality quirks in episode 1 and then ran with it. Sitcoms nowadays suck a little worse than they used to, but they always sucked. Sitcoms are basically "Lets make a group and then put them is silly situations. Viola, comedy gold!" and that just doesn't do it for me anymore.

Do u REALLY believe everything someone tells u. i dont really understand u over how 12 u r. if someone were to say adventure time is real, tht doesnt mean it is. people call it reality tv because they want u to believe tht its real.

lol internet debates. Start with a topic, move slightly out of that topic, end up just insulting each other.

"Hipster Sheldon "==>Big Bang Theory ==> sitcoms ==> reality tv ==> Community ==> "U r an idiot for believing reality tv"

    every time

  • Anonymous

@Anonymous: Yeah, as someone mentioned, Community, and Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Archer, The League, Workaholics...

You said you don't like the more classic sitcom stuff, so you probably won't like Happy Endings and/or New Girl, but neither has a laugh track, and they still deviate a lot from the tired machinations BBT uses.

If you're into British comedy there's also a ton; obviously the Gervais stuff, and Nathan Barley, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, My Life In Film, Peep Show, Friday Night Dinner, League of Gentlemen, etc etc.
