@Anonymous: That's sweet. Anyone can learn to play good music. Lets see those mother fuckers write a hit single, as the Beatles, the rolling stones, and the beach boys did. Fuck Elvis.

@Anonymous: Skrillex writes all his lyrics. He's a true singer/song writer in the tradition of those greats you mentioned.

@Anonymous: Foo fighter's guitarist Pat Smear is worse. He was in the Germs. Ever heard of the Germs? I didn't think so.

@Anonymous: Interesting universe where you guys live where worse = good. Nirvana was an awesome band, Foo Fighters are good (if a little commercial) the Germs were also good.
I'm hoping that the ignorance being put forth in this thread is symptomatic of young posters.2 -

@Anonymous: sigh.
wikipedia:
At the same time, Grohl wondered if his future might be in drumming for other bands. In November, Grohl took a brief turn with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, including a memorable performance on Saturday Night Live. Petty asked him to join permanently, but Grohl realized that his future lay elsewhere, and thus he declined the invitation. Grohl's name was also rumored as a possible replacement for Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese, and Grohl even performed with the band for a song or two at three shows during Pearl Jam's March 1995 Australian tour. However, by then, Pearl Jam had already settled on ex- Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, Jack Irons, and Grohl had other solo plans in the works.
still counts, as "been in" is ambiguous at best. Playing with a band for a couple of shows may be a stretch, but it's not like we defined the limits of the concept. -

@Anonymous: If we exclude his solo project that is, otherwise he's a finger short.

@dingo8baby: > ambiguous at best
I don't think the rest of us are having a problem with the difference between being "in" a band and just "playing for" a band. Session musicians play for all sorts of bands all the time both live and in the studio, but they're never a member of that band. The wikipedia passage you posted seems to only confirm exactly what the other guy said, not prove him incorrect. -
