In 2011 it was down to 619.

From 1998 back to 1946 the statistic never topped 650 murders, either, and there was no stop and search for all those years.

Perhaps the problem was sociological rather than the fault of guns and knives.

I don't think stop and search is the reason for the recent decline, and I don't think knives or guns were the reason for the 2002 peak.

Sound logical based on the stats?
