@Anonymous: That's exactly right, it is ridiculous in the UK because whatever the police seem to do, to someone it is wrong, because when they used more forceful techniques against the rioters at the student protests they were criticized for being too harsh, so when they are less harsh at the other riots later on, they are criticized for being too lenient.

@Anonymous: we all know that, stupid. but they mainly ask you for permission if you're brown.

@Anonymous: not true, they ask everyone who acts suspicious and tbh if you have nothing to hide then why not let them? I've been stopped and searched on the street, I have no problem with it, I think that the only people who have a problem with it clearly have something to hide.

@Anonymous: I've been searched while sitting in my car, at my place of employment's parking lot. They pulled a gun on me, which means if one of them trips, slips, or whatever, I"d have been dead/seriously wounded. What suspicious thing was I doing? I was leaning over to grab my work stuff in my own car.

@Anonymous: until they stop and search the same guys on the same corner every fucking day as a way of asserting their authority. which is common practice. the "it's only a problem if you have something to hide" argument is one of the worst arguments in humanity today. it's tantamount to "guilty until proven innocent". Seriously, fuck you you dumb fuck.

@Anonymous: Stop and search is an excellent thing which keeps us safe, and it is not "common practice" to stop the same people all the time. Why not be co-operative and make their jobs easier, I enjoyed chatting to the PC while I was searched and continued talking for a bit afterwards. My opinion is that people should assist the police rather than act confrontational and criticise them.
FYI hurling abuse doesn't make your argument any more valid, it just makes you sound aggressive and angry at someone for having a different view, which is very closed minded of you. -

@Anonymous: If you've got nothing to hide, then you won't mind if we perform a body cavity search, would you?

@Anonymous: No. You are missing the point. Here in America we are supposedly protected from unwarranted searches. Random checks are unwarranted. What point did I miss about Constitutionally protected rights to privacy?

@Anonymous: Well clearly there is a very different attitude to stop an search in the US of A, here in the UK most people try to assist the police in any way they can. The only people who seem to have a problem with it here are those who carry knives and other illegal items. Before the police were given more stop and search powers here I felt very threatened seeing large groups of people walking around with hoods up acting all "gangsta", since stop and search powers were increased in about 2005/6 based on the original 1984 PACE act I've felt safer knowing the police have the power to stop an search anyone at any time. In addition there has been a decline in the number of groups as described above walking around my area, again making me feel safer.
Anyway my point is the police are here to protect us and these powers enable them to do that more easily.22 1 1 -

@Anonymous: I do have things to hide, but... I also enjoy being frisked and/or cavity searched. I'm so conflicted. :[

@Anonymous: Why the "lol" stickers on this guy's well reasoned points, frankly I don't think that knife crime and being afraid for your life in your own town is very funny at all. My friend was stabbed simply because he wouldn't give an idiotic "gangsta blad" a mobile phone. He didn't even own a mobile phone.

@Anonymous: Maybe in the G-rated movie adaptation of real life, but in real life, there's penises and vaginas down there (normally one or the other). Trust me on this for now. It may come in handy later in life.
