Maybe Europe is real.
The lens used on the camera that took this picture is more curved that most, that is why America is distorted. The curved lens helps them take high resolution pictures of landmasses but is not so good for larger pictures like this as it causes distortion.
@Anonymous: I hadn't even considered that! It's now wonder they love their Tim Horton's.
