I've stickered this post because my interpretation is a bit different from that of the author's as it seems. What I thought this picture means is that Jesus points a person who's about to devolve to a some sort of unintelligent animal state a direction to further evolution. Spiritual and social evolution that is. Basically, whatever was before is not that relevant to our everyday life anyway, so move on and don't look back.
