Lucas messed up the Clone Wars. I remember as a kid, when I heard it mentioned the first time: OOH CLONE WARS?! HOW COOL IS THAT?! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! It was referred in the Star Wars comics of the 80's. It sounded mysterious and everything. So much potential for epic story of some kind of clones fighting against each other or against the rebellion or the empire or something awesome. But, he decided them to be just Stormtroopers with seemingly no difference to anything.

Why didn't he hire good writers to do the story for the films!? He's got all the wealth and power in the film industry and he settled for this?! I really now believe that he does not care about the films or his fans that much, he just wanted to create new characters for new toys to sell. It makes the most sense. And it makes me sad. I looooved everything Star Wars before prequels.

@Anonymous: Most of the authors are about as bad as Lucas. I wouldn't go farther than the Zahn trilogy and the X-wing Series. The problem is that most fantasy writers are awful, none of them have knowledge of sociology or history so they don't understand what a galactic civilization would be like. Thus you get a guy writing about a 3 million man army for the entire galaxy. Thats half of what Hitler had to invade Russia.
On the other hand, Star Wars was never much for making sense. But I do believe the clone wars had a lot of potential to be awesome. The actual battles were really great, and so was Genndy's clone wars cartoon. It just starts to suck once you add Anakin and whatnot. If they made Battlefront III in the style of Battlefield 3 I would cream myself.

By the time ANH rolls around the cloning process just doesn't make sense. A full grown clone in ten years? You could power some farmboy from Tatooine through stormtrooper academy in like a year tops.

Storm troopers also are made to look like clowns around any character with plot armor, they are actually well trained and something to be feared.
