@Stupefiant: 1. there are no girls on the internet.
2. the internet doesn't like girls.
3. girls that say they like vidya and are well-versed in internet memes and geek culture are annoying and are trying too hard.21 1 -

@Anonymous: No.
Trolls and socially retarted people who cannot get a girlfriend are bashing girls like that. She is not trying too hard, you are. Reciting you lesson isn't going to get you far.1 -

While I've never cared for women who feel the need to define they do by their gender (the funny thing is most of them claim to be feminists), people who think "gamer" is a title are more common and far more infuriating. Sure, they get some enjoyment out of vidya, but their main motive is trying to fit in with their "gamer" friends and live up to the lofty title they've assigned themselves.

@Stupefiant: If you'd cared to read the rest of the thread, GIRLS are bashing girls who act like this. There's nothing the matter with saying you like games and other geeky shit. There's nothing the matter with indicating your gender either if it's done in a manner that isn't clearly just seeking attention, ie, revolving your online identity around being a "gamer gurl!111!"
Now, writing a rant on a sign, using a "1%" reference to make oneself sound unique, and then prettying yourself up before taking a picture of you holding the sign and posting it on the internet? This can't be defended in any way, it's shameless attention seeking behavior.
On the other hand maybe she just likes wearing winter hats with short sleeved shirts for reasons other than a poorly executed cute factor... /rant31 1 -

@Stupefiant: No, she's trying too hard alright. Not that the guy you're talking too isn't reprehensible in his own way, but the thing you took issue with is the most true of the things he said.

@Anonymous: Did it occur to you that maybe these girls can't get girlfriends, and thus he's still correct? He said "people who cannot get a girlfriend" not "guys who cannot get a girlfriend".

@Anonymous: Anywhere that's still like the way the internet was a decade ago. Mostly obscure and esoteric little forums for certain types of tech-related stuff (more linux, less iPod) and old fashioned game genres such as roguelikes.
The only thing that seems to be totally gone is the AOL-style online roleplaying. But that's hardly a loss worth mourning. -

@Anonymous: This is what I was trying to get at. Why I am being called a social retard who can't get a girlfriend because I was trying to say this is beyond me.

@Anonymous: Sorry I'm still excited about my fuck yeah sticker! I abhor stereotypes, and trust me, I do attempt oc.
My dig is more at lazy reposts. I've been to reddit, and it's like being back in 1998. I come on canv.as and I am amazed by the quality of some of the drawings, photoshopping and weird creations I find here. I actually 'lol' at lots of the the fucked up remixes and remixed reposts.
I don't believe for one second that the OP is the actual girl in the picture! And if she is, she needs to smile.
I think canv.as is a fantastic community, using the 4chan ethos, to encourage free thinking and creating some fantastic shit. Anyhoo, gotta get back to my pokemon.....
tl;dr - 6.30am UK time, still stoked about my sticker.31 -
