@Anonymous: That's correct, but that OC was stupid. Try this one.

@Anonymous: fail. remixes are oc. see: sampling in music, references in art, remakes in movies, quotes in written material, etc....
resampling and recontextualizing are a part of art. always have been. -

@Anonymous: nice analogy
SO,
remixes lead to original content OR crap
but
in order to get to original content you HAVE to modify/remix

@Anonymous: Whoever you are, thank you. You've given me a small hope that the canvas community isn't beyond redemption.

@Anonymous: I understand where you're coming from, but you must understand that it's not a fault of the system, but of the user. Stickers should not be treated as an end in and of themselves, but simply as a means of giving feedback to the remixer. This feedback, used correctly, can be a great tool for bringing real, quality content to canv.as. It's a way for the artist to get to know their audience. And when an artist truly knows their audience, then they can produce art for them.

@Anonymous: ...
all squares are rectangles ( all OC are remixes )
NOT all rectangles are squares ( not all remixes are OC ) -

@Anonymous: No, what I'm saying is this "modified content" is not the same as "original content" because it is inherently unoriginal, it's modified from the germ of the original post.
Once again, to stress, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. -

@Anonymous: You don't HAVE to modify/remix to get original content. This is something I drew for my friend on her birthday. She likes llamas. It's not very good, but it's original content. No modification or remixing took place.

@Anonymous: Awww... I wish OP of that would have more stickers for it.
~Yours, OP of that thread.
No, really, thanks. -

@Sunburnt: Image no stickers. We would have never got together in this thread if not for the random FUCK YEAH sticker

@Anonymous: But not all OC are remixes, obviously.
There is a whole world of OC that wasn't remixed from something.

@Anonymous: If I'm not mistaken you have started with a blank image.
Smells like MS Paint

@Anonymous: OP posted anonymously and inadvertently hosted an extremely busy thread. OP will get what's given, but shouldn't act like it inherently deserves credit.

@Anonymous: Well played. I guess I did start with a blank image, just like all painters start with a blank canvas. I guess I can see how you say "all OC are remixes."

@Anonymous: Again, the philosoraptor in me says: "At first you start with a blank image, a canvas if you like, and then you 'modify' it."
Dammit, click in MSPaint File -> New and you'll understand -
