@Anonymous: I think people complain too much about there" not being enough OC" on Canv.as. Yes, there are some reposts, but the most popular stuff -- the stuff that really takes off -- tends to be OC (and remixes of OC).
Canv.as is, effectively, a democracy -- everyone has equal opportunity to create and to vote (with stickers). So we all play a part in making this a good community.61 -

@Anonymous: The whole point of canvas though was to remix images and create OC. It's become more about stickers than anything, and that's a bad thing.

@Anonymous: canv.as is only in beta. maybe there will be a better sorting device in place- a way to mark things as reposts/sticker-mongering posts.. but generally, things sort themselves out. you don't have to search too hard to find the good stuff (everything-> popular ...even if it's 2 pages of the "days best" - it's a lot in the grand scheme of things )

@Anonymous: The sticker-whoring is a concern. Maybe Canv.as should rethink the sticker-for-#1s system. Do you think the sticker-whoring was less common before the #1s were limited?

@Anonymous: There's already a tool to mark things as reposts/sticker mongering. It's called the downvote. People just love giving stickers to the reposts though, which only makes the poster repost even more.

@Anonymous: maybe the stickers themselves have become a meme of their own?

I think we should scrap the entire sticker system.2 1 1 1 -

@Anonymous: who knows what the "whole point" is supposed to be? there is no point. don't worry, be happy.

@Anonymous: no, a repost marker that would completely REFILE the post into a new category. saying "yeah, this is funny. but it's nothing we haven't seen before" - making OC more visible and making people think twice about stickering it. also providing a section for people to go to if they just want to laugh at something- maybe a section you'd show to your grandma who has never seen memes before and wants to see the previously successful shit.

@Anonymous: That's the case with canvas, but when you look at it, you still have 999 piles of shit.

@Anonymous: What if there was a repost group, and people could post reposts there! But here's the catch! Stickers are disabled for that group. Posting reposts outside of the repost group would result in points being taken away from your next level up.

@Anonymous: Exactly. Like the whole internet, out of 10^6 posts you will get 1000 very nice and shiny gems that would keep any newfriend happy.
It all depends on the userbase.1 -

@Anonymous: The rest of the internet isn't about creating OC though. It just happens. Canvas is specifically made for remixing and creating OC.

@Anonymous: Theoretically, a post must be modified, hence remixed, in order for it to become original content. If you cannot modify a certain image, in our case, how can you create OC?

@Anonymous: Do you see all of these creative remixes with Op's spirally fancy circle thing? That's OC. When you look around canvas and see forever alones and nyancats on everything? That's not OC.

@Anonymous: I don't hate your opinion, but I do like stickers. They're fun.

This entire thread is golden, and is probably the best example of OC on canvas.1 -
Anonymous
@Anonymous: I just don't think remixes really qualify as OC.
They're just remixes.1 -
Anonymous
@Anonymous: I like stickers too, but they are a terrible system that take away from the aspect of remixing. You should remix because you want to share, not to get stickers.
-
Anonymous
@Anonymous: A remix is not necessarily original. But in order to get to original content you must modify/remix your image.
-
Anonymous
@Anonymous: I disagree.
It's not like I don't like the remixes being posted, they're very creative.
It's not OC though. They're just remixes. -

@Anonymous: This thread, for example.
Original content arises when you modify a certain image and add your touch to it. Usually for the lulz -
